The summer glow

The summer glow

True Health brings you a guide to the best in summer beauty to keep your skin glowing and nourished during the warner months.

While winter is a time our skin soaks up ricer, more deeply nourishing creams and serums to soothe drier skin, the summer sees our routine change to lighter products that cater to the warmer weather.

But what should that routine look like and why is it important that you switch it up and change your products?

Summer skin

You may want to make some simple changes to your routine during the warmer months.

One of the most important tips during the warmer weather is to protect your skin from the harmful rays from the sun, so when choosing a moisturiser, opt for one with an SPF in it – even if it’s cloudy, as you can still experience skin damage. And don’t forget to also protect your lips with a balm that contains SPF.

You might also find skin can be oilier and spottier in the warmer weather due to the heat so avoid it becoming clogged by ensuring you have a healthy cleansing regime, removing make-up every day and added toner and moisturiser. It’s also important to exfoliate once a week.

When it comes to make-up, a tinted moisturiser or colour corrector cream might work better in the warmer months, compared to a heavier foundation, especially if you find make-up can fall off you when you’re hot. And a good tip for the eyes if is you choose eye shadow, first add a primer to the lids as this can help the eye shadow stay in place without smudging or creasing – ideal if it’s warmer.

And one of the most important tips for healthy summer skin is to stay hydrated. The warmer weather can be a time we – and our skin – becomes dehydrated, leaving us with lacklustre and dull skin. Therefore, you should drink lots of water throughout the day and try to cut back on caffeine,
