ArthroVite – Case Study

David Lawson is a skiing phenomenon – a real life ‘Action Man’.

A qualified instructor, who still takes to the slopes every week, David’s appetite for the sport he loves shows know waning. Amazing then to learn that in June this year he will celebrate birthday number 85! So what’s his secret?

“Difficult to determine,” says the former youth officer. “That said, I have taken a collagen supplement on a daily basis for many, many years and my mobility remains very good.

“On the odd occasions I have forgotten to take it – or even worse forgotten to pack it before a holiday – I have really noticed a difference.”

David, of Kendal, began to feel the effects of general wear and tear to his joints in the late ‘90s.

“I was concerned that my busy life would be curtailed and it was suggested that I try taking collagen. I researched the collagen products available from ArthroVite Ltd and one of them, Collagen Plus, has become a sort of religion for me, a genuine part of my life and daily regime.

“I have always been active and in my younger days I was a keen climber and fell walker. As a youth officer, working with youth groups and young farmers, I regularly got involved in outward bound courses and the like.

“It is wonderful that even at my time of life I am still able to enjoy the great outdoors, particularly with my skiing.

“I am very fortunate, but I feel sure that feeding my joints with collagen has played a significant part … and long may it continue.”

Keith Allum, the managing director of Arthrovite Ltd, the company responsible for first introducing collagen to the UK back in 1995, says:

“We are often asked whether collagen can really help those who suffer from arthritis and painful joints. Well, although no one can claim to have unearthed a cure for arthritis, the short answer is ‘yes it can’ and the reason for that is quite simple.

“Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies, found in every cell. It helps keep connective tissue flexible, enabling our bones and cartilage to bear weight.

“The name comes from the Greek kolla meaning glue and the suffix – gen – denoting producing. It is mostly found in fibrous tissues (tendons, ligaments and skin), and is also abundant in corneas, cartilage, bones, blood vessels, the gut, and intervertebral discs.

“According to a study published in the journal Science:- ‘oral administration of collagen improves symptoms of both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis – with no side effects.’

“So, the value of collagen cannot be over-stated and it is important to fully understand what happens when we lose it in our joints (and don’t make the mistake of thinking that only the elderly are affected).

“Indeed, it is from the age of just 25 that collagen levels start to reduce, roughly by 1.5% every year. By 45, collagen can have reduced by up to 30%, joints begin to stiffen, mobility becomes more restricted and pain ensues.

“The resulting bone-on-bone contact, caused by the erosion of the cartilage, leads to discomfort and various levels of arthritis pain. It is, therefore, important to replace collagen – preferably through a natural supplement as drugs and steroids only serve to mask the pain.

“Be prepared to persevere if benefits are not obvious straight away; after all you could be trying to repair 20/30 years of wear and tear.”

Collagen has beauty secrets too…

Every woman craves younger-looking skin, healthier hair and stronger nails. But how many see collagen as a genuine and natural solution?

Using collagen in daily beauty regimes improves and enhances skin, hair and nails and helps to slow down the ageing process.

The secret of Collagen Plus lies in the level of ingredients (7500 mg collagen, 1000 mg glucosamine and 800 mg of chondroitin … plus magnesium, calcium and vitamin C).

Collagen Plus is the no 1 collagen supplement and provides the highest levels of collagen – up to 50% more than rival products.
